Delta 2 launches GPS satellite

Delta 2 launch of GPS 2R-15 satellite (Boeing) A Delta 2 successfully launched a GPS navigation satellite Monday afternoon. The Delta 2 7925 lifted off from Space Launch Complex 17A at Cape Canaveral, Florida at 2:50 pm EDT (1850 GMT) Monday, and placed the GPS 2R-15(M) satellite into a transfer orbit a little over one hour later. The Lockheed Martin-built spacecraft is the second in a series of eight modernized GPS satellites with additional civil and military signals and advanced anti-hamming capabilities. The launch is the third this year for the Delta 2.
